Jack DeWitt, who founded Big Dutchman in 1938 with his brother, Dick DeWitt, passed away at his home in Zeeland, USA, on January 6th, 2012.
While Jack was only 24 days away of turning 101, Big Dutchman, now a worldwide leader in automated poultry and swine production systems, is almost ready to celebrate its 75th birthday. Jack DeWitt and his brother Dick DeWitt founded the company in 1938 in the U.S. when they set out to market their invention, which would soon revolutionize the poultry industry.
Approximately 100 members of the European Pig Producers (EPP) recently undertook an interesting practically-oriented excursion: Within the scope of this year’s European Pig Producers’ Club Congress in Münster, Germany, the experts had the opportunity of visiting the Big Dutchman Group headquarters and inspecting pig equipment for modern pig management. The Hungarian biogas market is still in its infancy; nevertheless it is evaluated as a promising future market due to the geographic and natural resources of the country. Recently therefore, at Renexpo 2010 - the Hungarian leading trade fair for renewable energies held in Budapest - BD AGRO took the opportunity of exhibiting for the first time together with our Hungarian partner company, Első Honi Biogáz Kft. (EHB). Both companies were able to provide numerous interested experts with fundamental know-how concerning biogas technology and give them some detailed advice.
Vechta/Poznan – As its neighbours in Western Europe, Poland increases its commitment in regenerative energies. The share of “green” electricity in energy production traditionally characterised by black and brown coal is planned to be increasing until 2020 from 5 to 15 percent. This ambitious goal can hardly be achieved without biogas plants, particularly since large parts of the country have agricultural structures.
