Investments of more than 50 million Euros announced: Polish companies rely on BD AGRO | Print |
bdagro-vertrag polen kleinVechta/Poznan – As its neighbours in Western Europe, Poland increases its commitment in regenerative energies. The share of “green” electricity in energy production traditionally characterised by black and brown coal is planned to be increasing until 2020 from 5 to 15 percent. This ambitious goal can hardly be achieved without biogas plants, particularly since large parts of the country have agricultural structures. To win strong partners for this task, Polish companies rely on the competence and experience of Big Dutchman and its biogas subsidiary BD AgroRenewables GmbH&Co KG (in short: BD AGRO).

Representatives of the project development and operating company listed on the Warsaw stock exchange called DGA Energia and managing director Uwe Heider from BD-AGRO now signed a contract in the Polish town of Poznan to put down comprehensive cooperation on this sector: Ten biogas plants are planned to be developed and constructed together in the coming 2 years. The construction of three of them will still be started this year. Moreover, further ten projects with an investment of 50 to 60 million Euros are planned on the medium term.

The plants with a performance of 500 kW to 1.5 MW can supply approx. one to three thousand households with alternative („green“) electricity and heat. DGA Energia and BD AGRO will be supported in planning and implementation by the Polish Big Dutchman subsidiary Agricon as well as the local subsidiary of the world-wide supplier of housing equipment BD Polska. They are helping not only with the administrative hurdles that have to be overcome but also with quite a few logistic problems before the green electricity can be fed into the network.

The Polish agency of the company with its headquarters in Vechta/Germany disposes of experiences on the sector of house construction and equipment and thus has well-established contacts with Polish producers and service companies of Polish agriculture. "With regard to Polish agriculture and the respective market environment our partners are old hands with a large experience which we can make use of without restrictions ", says Uwe Heider, "this way we could already make numerous contacts with farmers and farm managers and carry on important negotiations." Currently, further discussions are held with domestic and international energy suppliers, institutional investors and investment companies and recently lead to the signing of the contract.

In close cooperation with local partners, the first pilot projects on the field of regenerative energies were successful in the recent past. For example, BD AGRO has finished its first biogas plant in Poland in the past year in the region of Zielona Gora. The 250 kW plant is combined with an existing pig finishing plant. The largest part of the electrical energy produced from pig slurry and other substrates is used for operating the farm and the surplus energy is fed into the public mains supply.
